Obesity - Causes Sideeffect Treatment

Obesity is becoming a global health problem. Since obesity affects physical and mental health, it takes time to prevent it. fatness means being overweight for a certain age, height and gender. fatness occurs when excess fat accumulates under the skin and in other organs of the body.

Factors that cause obesity


It can occur at any age and fatness usually increases with age. Adults with 1/3 obesity are obese from childhood.


Obesity is more common in women than in men, but men are more likely to be overweight


Children of obese parents are more likely to be obese.

Eating habits: 

Eat mainly sweets, eat a lot at the same time, eat processed foods and fatty foods, eat between two meals, eat while watching television and eat high-calorie, easily available market foods. Propensities fall into this conduct. Children's eating habits include avoiding meals (mainly breakfast) and eating late at night. The calories in foods eaten before bed are not used and they are stored in the form of fat. So this problem only gets worse.

Lack of physical activity:

Sedentary work and less physical activity can lead to weight gain and obesity can restrict movement. This endless loop proceeds.

Low energy consumption: 

Constant rest reduces physical energy consumption.

Social and economic conditions:

Geographical and economic conditions also affect obesity.

Causes of endocrine glands:

Rare causes include, e.g. Cushing disorder, development chemical inadequacy.


Use of certain drugs e.g. Cortico- steroids, birth control pills, insulin, etc. can cause heavyness acquire.

Side effects of obesity:

Physical health: 

High blood pressure, respiratory diseases, bone complaints, diabetes, elevated blood serum lipids are some of the health problems associated with adulthood.

Mental and social health: 

Obesity can lead to discrimination. Being teased by friends can cause children to develop negative feelings about themselves, which in turn can lead to behavioral and learning problems.

Weight control is about maintaining a healthy or acceptable body mass index. Weight gain in all people is 5 kg. The main focus is to prevent excess weight and to reduce the weight of those who are basically overweight by 5-10%.

Care Plan/Treatment:

Health education to be given to school children by a school health nurse or child health nurse

Dietary changes - 

Eat less but more often, use more raw vegetables (salads), fruits, green leafy vegetables in the diet, avoid market foods.

Increment active work and exercise. Food energy is not to take more than the required energy consumption.

Behavioral changes - 

lifestyle changes, daily meal planning, changing eating habits, increasing the nutrients in available foods, increasing people's knowledge of obesity in children, people's participation in weight control.

Other preventative measures- 

Appetite suppressant drugs, surgical treatment to reduce obesity (bariatric surgery). These are costly and risky solutions.

Health education should create awareness among the people.
